For a house that tries to close itself off as much as possible in respect to the street and the neighbors, this family home has surprisingly open spaces and facades. This unusual combination was achieved by moarqs + OTTOLENGHI architects by combining two contrasting materials: concrete and glass. The design strategy was to have a more open ground floor while the first floor is closed and private. Both floors have full-height glass walls but the difference is that there’s a concrete shell which wraps around the upper floor, framing the spaces and blocking the views but at the same time allowing them to be fully open to the courtyard.

That’s because the goal was to create a warm and inviting décor. The walls feature a very nice texture thanks to the stone and the floor shares a similar color. Wood was used for some of the details as well as for the mirror frame and stools. Stone can also be a great material for a modern bathroom. This one, for example, features a simple and stylish décor with walls covered in stone and that feature a very interesting texture. The double sink and vanity share a color palette similar to the one used for the walls and the transparent glass door and the mirror create a sense of openness and spaciousness.

An interesting and beautiful option would be stone. A stone sink placed on top of a wooden vanity would look very chic but, at the same time, it would help create a natural and simple decor.

In the case of this residence in Barcelona, Spain, the most important element was the landscape and thus the views. The house was built by Isern Associats on a very steep site which allowed it to frame magnificent views of the valley. A limited budget was also one of the challenges that the architects at JRKVC had to overcome when designing this house in Slovenia. The client wanted the house to be small and to have a design inspired by traditional rural architecture but with an ultimately modern character. The glazed facade with two tiers of windows is a defining element of the design.

Chantay Clement Bathroom, 2017-06-17 13:50:49. Freestanding bathtubs seem to be very appealing and, at one point, you realize you’ve always wanted one without being sure why. There are lots of reasons why you should choose a freestanding bathtub and most of them are related to functionality and style. Most of the times, homeowners choose freestanding bathtubs because of the views. To understand better, imagine a large master bathroom with a large window and a strategically-positioned bathtub. It’s s style that allows you to choose and change the location of the bathtub and to take advantage of the layout and design of the bathroom.
Celesse Legrand Exterior, 2017-06-24 21:52:28. You’d think that a concrete house wouldn’t have much in common with nature but you’d be wrong. Just look at this gorgeous retreat in South Korea. The U Retreat was designed by IDMM architects on a steep site overlooking a sharp vertical cliff and nature and the surroundings had a lot to do with its unique design. The forms of the cliff and the trees that surround the building were inspiration for the forms and layouts that define the concrete structure.
